1 July 1654 | Having assembled in Boston, English and Provincial forces lead by Major Robert Sedgwick - including a contingent of Roundheads - was about to set out against the Dutch, when news of the peace with Holland reached him. He then decided to attack the French instead, and captured two forts and a settlement adding Acadia to the British dominions where it would stay until 1670. |
